STAND OUT SOCKS x PROJECT EMPOWERMENT – MAKING NOISE FOR WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY! DAY 1

At Stand Out Socks, we are beyond excited to launch Project Empowerment in the lead-up to World Down Syndrome Day on 21st March! Every single day, we’ll be sharing incredible stories from amazing people who are making a difference.

What is Project Empowerment?

Project Empowerment is all about giving individuals the chance to kick-start their entrepreneurial journey, develop valuable skills, and boost their prospects—all while raising awareness for World Down Syndrome Day. This initiative is about empowerment, growth, and creating real impact in local communities.

DAY 1 - Riverbank Centre and Streets Ahead Service – Stirling Council

To kick things off, we’ve donated 100 pairs of socks to help raise awareness and fundraise for an electric tandem bike 🚲. This bike will help the group stay active and explore the beautiful city of Stirling, enhancing their independence and mobility.

This project is an incredible opportunity for the group to engage with their local community. They’ll be selling Stand Out Socks, sparking meaningful conversations with members of the public, and raising awareness about the lives of people with learning disabilities, especially Down syndrome.

It’s all about visibility, independence, and community, and we can’t wait for these inspiring individuals to make an impact!

Why Socks for World Down Syndrome Day?

Every year on 21st March, millions of people across the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. To raise awareness, people wear brightly coloured, often mismatched socks because chromosomes are shaped like socks, and individuals with Down syndrome have an extra copy of chromosome 21.

This simple yet powerful tradition is a fun way to start conversations, celebrate individuality, and promote inclusion.
