Empowering Futures: Stand Out Socks Supports Derwen College - Day 11

🎉 STAND OUT SOCKS x PROJECT EMPOWERMENT – MAKING NOISE EVERY DAY IN THE LEAD-UP TO WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY!

At Stand Out Socks ✌️🧡🧦, we’re beyond excited for Project Empowerment, and in the lead-up to World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st, we’ll be sharing incredible stories every single day from the amazing people involved!

💙💛 Project Empowerment is all about giving individuals the opportunity to kick-start their entrepreneurial journeys, gain valuable skills, and boost their prospects—all while raising awareness for World Down Syndrome Day. This initiative is driven by empowerment, growth, and making a real difference!

DAY 11 – Derwen College

Today, we’re buzzing with excitement to support the incredible students at Derwen College in Shropshire, as part of Project Empowerment!

Derwen College is dedicated to empowering young adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them gain independence and build bright futures. To support these efforts, we’ve donated 100 pairs of Stand Out Socks, which will play a vital role in their learning and development.

These amazing students will take charge of their very own market stall in the college's lively on-site Marketplace. From managing stock to engaging with customers and promoting their stall, they’ll be gaining invaluable real-world skills every step of the way.

Even better, the students will be selling these socks leading up to World Down Syndrome Day, spreading awareness and raising funds. Every penny made will be reinvested into future student-led projects, providing even more opportunities for them to shine.

We can’t wait to see the incredible impact they’ll make—let’s go Derwen College!

Why We Wear Bright Socks on World Down Syndrome Day

On March 21st, millions of people across the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. One of the fun and meaningful ways to show support is by wearing brightly coloured, often mismatched socks. This symbolizes chromosomes, which look like little socks under a microscope—and people with Down syndrome have an extra copy of chromosome 21.

This tradition is a fantastic way to spark conversations, celebrate individuality, and show your support for inclusion.
