At Stand Out Socks, this day holds special meaning for us. It’s not only a time to raise awareness, but to honour the remarkable contributions made by individuals with Down syndrome. Our story is deeply intertwined with Down syndrome, as the company was co-founded by a man who has Down syndrome, and today, we proudly employ four other talented team members with Down syndrome. Each brings invaluable passion, skills, and a unique perspective to our work.

This year, we are excited to continue our advocacy for equality, raise awareness, and celebrate the vibrant individuals who inspire us daily. For us, bright socks are more than just a fashion statement—they represent confidence, joy, and the courage to stand out. The Connection Between Socks and Down Syndrome

You may be asking, what’s the link between socks and Down syndrome? The answer is rooted in something quite simple yet meaningful. Individuals with Down syndrome have an extra copy of chromosome 21, and under a microscope, chromosomes resemble little socks. This connection is what inspired us to use socks as a fun and symbolic way to celebrate the individuality and beauty of those with an extra chromosome.

In recent years, we’ve witnessed significant strides in awareness of Down syndrome.
