Stand Out Socks x Project Empowerment – Celebrating Inclusion for World Down Syndrome Day!
At Stand Out Socks ✌️🧡🧦, we believe in celebrating individuality and championing inclusion. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce Project Empowerment—a campaign dedicated to highlighting incredible people who are making a difference. As we count down to World Down Syndrome Day (March 21st), we’re sharing inspiring stories every single day!
What is Project Empowerment?
💙💛 Project Empowerment helps individuals kick-start their entrepreneurial journey, gain valuable skills, and raise awareness for World Down Syndrome Day. It’s all about empowerment, opportunity, and creating meaningful impact.
DAY 9 – Meet Jessica!
Today, we’re introducing Jessica, a vibrant 24-year-old from the outskirts of York.
Jessica’s personality is as colourful and unique as her style. She loves being called Moana, Bernadette, or Monica—because why have just one name when you can have a few? Her love for fun and creativity shines through in everything she does.
She enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Joe, and her friends, bringing joy and laughter wherever she goes. Jessica is dedicated to helping others, working in a canteen and volunteering at a retirement home.
When she’s not giving back, she’s making the most of life—horse riding, swimming, dancing, watching TV and movies, and performing in a sing and sign choir. And when it comes to food? A full English breakfast is her ultimate favourite (though she wouldn’t say no to a roast dinner with Yorkshire puddings!).
How We’re Supporting Jessica
To celebrate Jessica and her friends, we’re donating 100 pairs of Stand Out Socks for them to sell and raise funds for a huge social celebration event for the Down syndrome community this World Down Syndrome Day.
Every pair sold helps: ✅ Fund an unforgettable celebration for Jessica and her friends ✅ Raise awareness about Down syndrome and inclusion ✅ Spread joy, laughter, and community spirit
We can’t wait to see the smiles, dancing, and happiness this brings! 🎉
Why Socks on March 21st?
On World Down Syndrome Day, people across the globe wear bright, often mismatched socks to start conversations about inclusion.
Why socks? Because chromosomes are shaped like socks—and people with Down syndrome have an extra copy of chromosome 21. It’s a fun and meaningful way to celebrate uniqueness, individuality, and inclusion.
Get Involved!
Want to make a difference? Wear your mismatched socks on March 21st and help spread the message of inclusion!
